Ash now has two of the four Orange League badges. The group comes up to the seven Grapefruit Islands. These islands are suppose to be covered with grapefruit. The ripeness of the fruits should be good right about now. Lapras swims towards the islands. When they get to the islands, Ash and co. notices the size of the fruit. Ash takes one from the tree. A woman yells at Ash for stealing the grapefruit. Misty and Tracey tells the woman that they are not grapefruit theives. The woman apologizes at them for being mean. Lately, someone has been stealing the grapefruit. The grapefruit apparently have been grown by people. The woman hates it when the grapefruit are stolen. The woman tells them a story about how they grow the fruit. A man comes out and tells the woman (her name is Ruby) that the thieves have struck again. Ash and co. decides to help Ruby.

They come to an island without grapefruit. The branches have even been torn off. A man calls Ruby over, and he points to a Snorlax. The Snorlax is eating all of the grapefruit. Ash looks up Snorlax in his Pokédex. The men tries to push Snorlax out of the way, but Snorlax knocks the men to the side. Ruby can't figure out of how Snorlax got to the islands. They have to do something, or all the grapefruit will disappear. Ruby tells the men that they can pick up all the grapefruit before Snorlax can eat it. Ash and co. use their Pokémon to help with the picking. Ash uses Bulbasaur and Misty uses Staryu. The pile of grapefruit grows. Snorlax sees the pile, and it runs over to eat the grapefruit. Tracey suggests that they weaken Snorlax, and then capture it. Bulbasaur uses Vine Whip on Snorlax, but Snorlax doesn't even feel the attack. Bulbasaur tries a Razor Leaf. Snorlax holds up a grapefruit, and the Razor Leaf cuts the grapefruit into even slices. Then Snorlax uses a Body Slam on Bulbasaur.

Snorlax stops eating. It walks to another grapefruit tree, and starts to eat the fruit from the tree. After a while, all the trees grow bare on the island. Snorlax has gobbled up all the fruit on the island. Tracey says that as long as Snorlax can't get to the other islands, the grapefruit are safe. However, that's not even good enough because Snorlax starts to swim to the next island. Misty is surprised that Snorlax is able to swim. This is how Snorlax got to the island in the first place.

Meanwhile, Team Rocket is collecting grapefruit for themselves. James is cutting the grapefruit off the trees. Meowth decides to go for a taste. He tries to open the grapefruit, but it doesn't open. Instead Meowth breaks his paw. Team Rocket decides to sell the grapefruit for money. They run back to their Magikarp sub. Snorlax, heading for Team Rocket, washes up onto the shore. It eats all of the grapefruit that Team Rocket collected. Ash and co. aren't far behind. They see Team Rocket on the island too. Team Rocket decides to just steal Pikachu and Snorlax. Ash knows that stopping Snorlax and Team Rocket won't be easy.

Ruby is busy helping the men gather the fruit. They have to stop Snorlax before it gets to the other islands. Ash sends out Squirtle in hope of capturing Snorlax. Squirtle uses Skull Bash, but it's too work to even hurt Snorlax. Snorlax felt the attack, and it Body Slams Squirtle. Misty sends out Staryu for battle. Staryu uses Tackle, but Snorlax blocks the attack off with a Headbutt. Misty tries Goldeen. Snorlax picks up Goldeen, thinking that Goldeen is edible. Before Snorlax can eat Goldeen, Misty returns it back. Misty tells Togepi to use its Metronome, but Togepi doesn't do anything. Ash reminds Misty that Togepi doesn't know any attacks yet.

Team Rocket comes in the scene. Arbok is sent out. Before Arbok can attack, Snorlax uses a Body Slam on it. Lickitung tries to lick Snorlax, but Snorlax grabs its tongue and uses it as a napkin. Victreebel tries to stop Snorlax, but it ends up getting crushed by a Body Slam. Misty calls out for Psyduck. She calls Psyduck the "perfect Pokémon" because of its psychic attacks. Psyduck swallows a grapefruit whole, and nearly kills itself. Pikachu uses a Thunderbolt on Snorlax. The attack doesn't do anything to Snorlax. It just continues eating. On the moniter, Ruby can see that Snorlax has eaten half the grapefruit that's on the island. Suddenly, James appears with a trick of Hypnosis. He waves a pendant at Snorlax to put it to sleep. James puts himself to sleep. Ash likes the idea of putting Snorlax to sleep. They try to give Snorlax a massage, but Snorlax continues to eat the food. Misty tells Snorlax to picture itself at a sunset with all of its friends. She counts all of the Snorlax that appears in the picture. Misty falls asleep when she gets to 99.

Jessie dresses up as Snorlax's mother. She tells Snorlax to take a nap. James and Meowth accompanies her with a lullaby. Snorlax doesn't like the lullaby. It kicks Team Rocket away with a powerful Mega Kick. Then Ash and co. realizes that they have to find Jigglypuff and Snorlax will fall asleep. Ruby walks back, and she finds the men sleeping. Just then, Ash and co. runs up to her. On the mens' faces are drawings made my Jigglypuff. Snorlax has eaten all the grapefruit on the second island, and it is now swimming towards the third island. They have to hurry up.

Ash and co. sets up the stage for Jigglypuff. Snorlax is heading towards Ash and co. Jigglypuff still hasn't arrived yet. They start a chant to get Jigglypuff to sing. Jigglypuff looks from behind a tree. It sees the stage, and hops on it. Jigglypuff starts to sing its song. Misty, Tracey, and Ruby get drowsy, but Ash does his best to stay awake. Snorlax starts to get drowsy. Pikachu uses a Thunder on Snorlax, and Snorlax falls backwards. Ash throws Pokéball, and capturs the Snorlax. Ash cheers for his success, and then him and Pikachu both fall asleep. When Jigglypuff is done singing, it sees that everyone has fallen asleep. Jigglypuff grabs the colored markers that were set by the stage, and it draws everyones' face.

Ruby thanks Ash and co. for their hard work. She gives them a bag of Candied Grapefruit Peels in return. Misty gives one to Togepi and Pikachu. A man comes and tells Ruby that new grapefruit trees are growing where Snorlax was. They say goodbye to each other, and Ash and co. sets off to their next adventure.
