Continuing their journey to Virbank City and Ash’s next Gym battle, our heroes are startled to run into a Vanilluxe, and its Trainer, their friend Georgia. She tells them she’s on her way to a laboratory called Ferroseed Research, run by a Professor Malveaux, to get moss grown there that is reputed to improve the skills of Pokémon, and our heroes go along with her. Once there, they meet one of Professor Malveaux’s assistants, Case, who gives them a tour of the facility. They learn how the research conducted on the Ferroseed helps them to learn how to utilize the many kinds of moss the Ferroseed produce. Suddenly, three Ferroseed who have been absorbing electricity from charged stones start to wildly produce moss that overtakes the research center, and growing so fast it threatens the whole city! Making Ground- and Electric-type Pokémon sick (including Pikachu), the moss continues to grow out of control. When Iris, Axew, Oshawott, and Georgia’s Vanilluxe get trapped on the roof of the research center, Vanilluxe’s Icy wind eliminates a large part of the moss. Professor Malveaux quickly theorizes that Ice-type moves can stop its spread. With the help of Vanilluxe, Georgia’s Beartic, and Pikachu (who has been cured, thanks to an antidote Professor Malveaux formulated) manage to stop the moss from spreading, and the city is freed from the danger. After Professor Malveaux thanks our heroes and Georgia for their help, Georgia says goodbye and our heroes board a ship headed for Virbank City.

Juliette explique à nos héros qu'elle est en route vers un laboratoire appelé le centre de recherches Grindur, dirigé par le Professeur Malveaux. Une fois arrivés, ils rencontrent l'un des assistants du Professeur Malveaux, Jacques, qui leur fait visiter les lieux. Jacques explique que leurs recherches portent sur le Pokémon Grindur et les multiples façons d'utiliser la mousse qu'il produit. Soudain, trois Grindur, qui ont absorbé l'électricité de pierres en surcharge, commencent à produire de la mousse de façon incontrôlable. La mousse envahit rapidement tout le laboratoire et c'est alors que les Grindur s'échappent, menaçant ainsi la ville entière. La mousse continue à s'étendre, rendant malades tous les Pokémon de type Sol et Électrik, dont Pikachu. Quant à Iris, Coupenotte, Moustillon et le Sorbouboul de Juliette, ils se retrouvent pris au piège sur le toit du centre de recherches. Le Professeur Malveaux émet alors l’hypothèse que les attaques de type Glace peuvent arrêter la croissance de la mousse. Avec l'aide de Sorbouboul, le Polagriffe de Juliette et Pikachu, remis grâce à un antidote mis au point par le Professeur Malveaux, parviennent à arrêter la prolifération de la mousse et à libérer la ville du danger. Le Professeur Malveaux remercie nos héros et Juliette pour leur aide. Cette dernière dit au revoir à nos héros, qui se remettent en route, en direction d'Ondes-sur-Mer.

Georgina ist eine Freundin von Lilia und erstarrt normalerweise beim bloßen Anblick eines Eis-Pokémon. Sie erzählt ihnen, dass sie auf dem Weg zum Kastadur-Forschungsinstitut ist, das von Professor Malveaux geleitet wird, um sich das dort wachsende Moos zu besorgen, das angeblich Pokémon-Fähigkeiten verbessern soll. Ze vertelt dat ze onderweg is naar een laboratorium, Ferroseed Onderzoekscentrum, dat geleid wordt door Professor Malveaux, om daar mos te laten groeien waarvan bekend is dat het de vaardigheden van Pokémon verbetert. Onze helden gaan met haar mee. Eenmaal daar, ontmoeten ze een van de assistenten van Professor Malveaux, Case, die hen een rondleiding geeft.
