And believe it or not, on April 1st 2022 the "Pocket Monsters" anime TV series will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of the original premiere date of April 1st 1997!! It will have a special giveaway campaign as a thank-you to all its fans, so make sure to pay attention to the show that day!

Synopsises for the "VS Elite Four 1 Hour Battle Special" airing Friday April 1st, 2022

"Satoshi and Citron! Special Friendship Training!!"
The venue for the next "Pokémon World Championships" match is in Miare City in the Kalos region. Before the match starts, Satoshi and Go visit Gym leader Citron and his sister Eureka, who used to travel with Satoshi. Satoshi trains by having a Pokémon battle with Citron, but then something happens to Negigaknight...?! Uonoragon seems to take an interest in what happened, and...?!

"Hyper Class! VS Elite Four Dracaena!!"
Satoshi's "Pokémon World Championships" opponent is Dracaena from the Kalos Elite Four, who is ranked 12th in the Hyper Class! Dracaena looks kind, but her battling skills are absolutely extreme?! Satoshi faces the Dragon type Trainer Dracaena with his powered-up Negigaknight and Uonodragon! Will he be able to defeat this powerful opponent?!

Satoshi reunites with Citron and Eureka, the siblings he traveled with in the Kalos region! How with Satoshi fight Kalos Elite Four Dracaena after training with them?! Keep your eyes peeled!

We've received comments from Citron's voice actor Yuki Kaji and Eureka's voice actor Maiya Ise!

Yuki Kaji, voice of Citron:
"I had heard rumors that characters from other series have been appearing one after another, so I'd been hoping Citron one day would as well... and I'm really happy that dream came true today! And it's BOTH siblings, too! I think of the three years I spent dubbing the "Pocket Monsters" TV show as an indispensable masterpiece of my voice actor life. It was a time filled with learning and twinkling.

When I appeared in the show this time, I went to the dubbing session picturing what Citron's life had been like after the conclusion of the "Pocket Monsters XY" series... hoping I could show that I had grown a bit as an actor since last time. The Pokémon dubbing studio is a place for passion and fun!

As far as this episode goes, I think you might consider it a character analysis that truly makes you feel what Citron is like as a person. However, his battle against Satoshi is really well made too, and you should get to hear his catchphrase "Citronic Gear On!" as well...! Don't miss the scene where the siblings reunite with Satoshi, Pikachu and the other either, it's really emotional! I hope they'll make another appearance after this... preferably one where they interact with Go! The Pokémon World is infinitely wide, so there's no doubt things will get even more exciting in the future!

I hope both existing XY fans and those that gain an interest in XY from this episode will get the opportunity to watch these two characters' journey in its entirety! It's the most wonderful story of all! Regards,
Yuki Kaji

Mariya Ise, voice of Eureka:
It made me really happy I got to meet Satoshi's voice actress Rica Matsumoto and all the other people that took care of me back in the days of the "Pocket Monsters XY" series, and getting to play Eureka again made me the happiest of all. Unfortunately I didn't get to record alongside Yuki Kaji, who plays Eureka's brother Citron, but since we spent about three years together in this dubbing studio, I could still hear his voice in my head when I read the script, so I was able to record my lines while being pretty sure how Kaji-kun would deliver his.

If you're new to the Pokémon anime, I hope you'll come to love the innocent angel Eureka who loves to care for Pokémon, and I also hope you'll watch the "Pocket Monsters XY" series as well.

Eureka is a girl who's too young to be a Pokémon Trainer yet, which I think viewers close to her in age will be able to empathize with. The sibling interaction between her and Citron is really charming as well, so I really hope you'll get the opportunity to watch the "Pocket Monsters XY" series in addition to this episode!
-Mariya Ise

On March 13th, 2022, ORICON NEWS posted an interview with Eureka's voice actress Mariya Ise and also posted a tweet to promote it.

ORICON NEWS - Interview - Eureka's voice actress Mariya Ise
2022-03-13 08:30
Citron and Eureka, who appeared in the anime's "Pocket Monsters XY" and "Pocket Monstesr XY&Z", will appear for the first time in about six years in episodes 103 & 104 (one-hour special broadcast) of the popular anime "Pocket Monsters" (broadcast every Friday from 6:55 pm on TV Tokyo) on April 1st, 2022. ORICONNEWS interviewed Mariya Ise, who continues to voice Eureka, and asked her about her memories of those days and the current "Pokémon" life she and her children enjoy together.

Ise-san played Eureka in the "Pocket Monsters XY" anime series (2013-2016). What are some of your most memorable experiences from those days when you were able to participate in the "Pokémon" production?

Ise: It was exciting and thrilling for me as a member of the Pokémon generation! When I was in the first grade of elementary school, the "Pocket Monsters Red and Green" games for Game Boy were released (1996), and the anime broadcast (1997) started right away, and I watched the first episode as an obsessed viewer. I never thought I would be able to "participate" as a voice actor in a work I was so passionate about! I still remember how excited I was. However, I also remember feeling a sense of responsibility to "pass the baton to the next generation" by participating in a work that has been loved for a long time.

In addition to Eureka, I also voiced other Pokémon in the animated films, including the female Pikachu in "Pocket Monsters: Best Wishes" episode 143 and in the "Pikachu and its Eievui Friends" short, which was shown simultaneously with "Pokémon the Movie: Best Wishes Extremespeed Genesect: The Awakening of Mewtwo", I voiced Eievui. I feel honored to be a part of the "Pokémon" animated series.

The most memorable scene is episode 41 of "Pocket Monsters XY&Z". In the scene where Puni-chan (Squishy) loses control, but regains its composure with Eureka's lullaby, "Puni~Puni~", that scene is memorable. That song is also the ending song of the series, and I still can't forget it because I sang it in tears and bursting with emotion during an important scene in the film.

You are of the Pokémon generation. Did your favorite Pokémon change after participating in the production? Eureka's partner, Dedenne, seems to have a special attachment to it.

Ise: When I was in elementary school, I liked cute Pokemon like Pikachu, Eievui, and Purin, but as I grew older, I became more into battles and was attracted to cool Pokemon like Lizardon and Mewtwo. Then, when I became a voice actor and started participating in productions, I began to love all Pokémon... (embarrassed). I see actors making Pokémon noises right in front of me, and I think to myself, "Pokémon have feelings, too. They talk to each other through their noises!" and so on, respect entered the picture in addition to affection, and it became very difficult to narrow it down to a single favorite Pokémon.

Of course I am attached to Dedenne because it is Eureka's partner, but I can't help but look at it from Eureka's point of view, "I'll protect you!" Eureka is not only "cute" but also "little sister" to me. In a good way, Dedenne is a little unreliable or a little lackluster... That's the part that is attractive and makes me think, "I want to protect it!" and "Be firm!" (laughs). That aspect of Eureka makes her feel like a big sister, as she becomes concerned.

What is your Pokémon life like now, having been exposed to Pokémon for more than 20 years as a member of this generation?

Ise: I am both nostalgic and surprised that more than 20 years have passed and "children love Pokémon" has not changed. Parents and children enjoy the Pokémon lifestyle together, and children say to me, "Mom, you do the voice of this Eureka, don't you?" "You used to voice Eievui, didn't you?".

When my children were little, they would listen to "Puni-chan's song" as a lullaby, and I spent many happy days enjoying "Pokémon" with my children. When I ask my children, "What is your favorite Pokémon?" and they say "I like Eievui!", as a voice actor and a mother, I feel doubly happy.

Satoshi, Pikachu, and Citron also appear in this story, so I look forward to seeing them as are parents and children. I hope everyone will enjoy the interaction between Eureka and her brother Citron, and Dedenne.
