Ash and co. have stopped at an island so that Ash can prepare for the Orange League competition. Ash stares out at the sea. He tells Pikachu that they are on a good winning streak. Tracey is busy observing a Vileplume. Ash and Pikachu walks to Tracey. He wants Tracey to help him with his training. Ash trips over a rock and bumps into Tracey. The both of them falls straight into Vileplume. Vileplume uses Stun Spore. Pikachu runs up to Misty and tells her what happened. Ash and Tracey comes walking by in a strange form. Misty looks at Ash, and she sees that they breathed in Stun Spore.

Misty brings Ash and Tracey to a cabin where they are put to bed. Misty looks into her backpack for some Antidote, but she doesn't find any. She decides to go to a Pokémon Center, but that happens to be thirty miles away on another island. Pikachu decides to shock Ash, but Misty quickly stops it. Ash starts to moan. Misty runs outside to get some wet cloths. She comes back inside and puts them on the boys. Tracey tells Misty to get the Pokédex. Misty looks up the cure for Vileplume's Stun Spore. Dexter says that Stun Spore can be cured with Salveio Weeds. They can be found in the ocean next to Poliwag. Misty tells Pikachu to stay with Ash and Tracey while she looks for the plant.

Meanwhile, James and Meowth are trying to get an apple. They are standing on a branch with James lifting Meowth up. Meowth gets the apple, but the branch gives in causing them to land on the ground. They bring the apple back to their friend, Jessie. It seems that Jessie is also sick from the Stun Spore. Jessie tells to herself that she is very beautiful. She just wants to look at the apple. Then Jessie requests for something else, but James and Meowth doesn't want to go through the same trouble again. This makes Jessie cry. James remembers a time when his grandpa prepared Salveio Weeds for James when James was sick. Jessie hits James because he couldn't think of that sooner.

Misty looks for the Salveio Weed, but she doesn't find it. Pikachu continues to be by Ash's side. Meanwhile, James and Meowth are in costumes looking for the Salveio Weed. Meowth thinks that if anyone saw them in the water, then those people would get suspicious. A Poliwag jumps out of the water. James and Meowth notices it right away. James remembers that his grandpa used a Poliwag to get the Salveio Weed. James sends out Victreebel. Victreebel jumps up high, but Poliwag dodges the attack. Poliwag uses Water Gun, but the attack has no effect on Victreebel. Victreebel uses Razor Leaf, but Poliwag dodges the attack again. Poliwag runs away with Meowth chasing it. Meowth jumps onto the Poliwag. Poliwag struggles, and it runs into the woods.

Misty walks along the road still in search for the Salveio Weed. She looks up Poliwag in the Pokédex. Poliwag runs behind Misty just when James and Meowth stumbles out. Meowth tells Misty to hand over the Poliwag. Poliwag shakes its head, and Misty doesn't give Poliwag to Team Rocket.

Victreebel attacks, and Misty sends out Goldeen. Victreebebl uses Razor Leaf, but Goldeen jumps into the water and dodges the attack. Victreebel jumps above the water. Goldeen comes up and hits Victreebel with a Horn Attack. The Victreebel gets hit a series of times by Victreebel's Fury Attack. James returns Victreebel back. Meowth is angry that James can't train his Victreebel for battle. James's next Pokémon is Weezing, and Misty chooses Staryu. Both Pokémon tackles each other. Weezing uses Smog attack, but with Staryu's Double-Edge, Weezing gets hurt again. It is Meowth's turn to battle. Misty sends out Psyduck. Meowth scratches Psyduck, and the he bites Psyduck's head. Psyduck gets a headache and uses Confusion. Meowth is sent back into James, and they both slide away.

James and Meowth are upset that they don't have the Poliwag or the Salveio Weed. Meanwhile, Misty has finished adding some cream to Poliwag's wound. Togepi is glad that Poliwag is here. Misty asks Poliwag if it knows where she can find the Salveio Weed. She shows a picture of it to Poliwag. Poliwag jumps into the water. Seconds later, it comes up with the plant. Misty sends out Staryu, and she goes underwater to find more of the Salveio Weed. She gathers up a lot of Salveio Weed. Poliwag wants to come with Misty, but she tells it that she has to help Ash and Tracey. Finally, she agrees to let Poliwag stay with them.

James and Meowth smiles behind because they left a few traps for Misty to fall in. Misty sees a tea set laying on the ground, but she decides to walk on towards the cabin. She passes by some makeup, but doesn't stop to look. Misty passes by a few more things, but she doesn't take any of them. Meowth is angry that Misty didn't fall for any of their traps. Still, he has another plan up his sleeve. A woman and a baby comes up to Misty. The woman asks Misty if she has any of the Salveio Weed. The woman tells Misty that her baby inhaled the Stun Spore, and it hasn't been able to move in days. The baby starts to talk. Misty notices that it is Meowth. The woman and baby was really James and Meowth. James and Meowth starts to say their motto. James sends out Weezing. Poliwag wants to battle. It uses an amazing Doubleslap attack on Weezing. Weezing knocks into James and Meowth, and they roll down a hill. When they rise back up, they see some Salveio Weed sitting in the middle of the road. James and Meowth cries because Misty helped them even though they were mean to Ash and co. in the past.

Misty runs to Pikachu. She hurries inside to boil the plant up. When the it is all ready, she gives it to Ash and Tracey. Meanwhile, James and Meowth are boiling the Salveio Weed for Jessie. Jessie tells them to hurry up. When Jessie is cured, she wants to attack Ash and co. James and Meowth can't believe that Jessie would want to attack Misty. After all, Misty did help Jessie get well. Ash and Tracey are better too. Suddenly, Arbok crashes through their cabin. Ash and co. runs outside, and they see Jessie by herself. Arbok uses Poison Sting attack, but Pikachu dodges it. James and Meowth are sitting behind a rock. They don't want to help Jessie. Pikachu uses Thundershock on Arbok. Arbok falls backwards and shocks Jessie. James picks up Jessie, and the team runs away.

Ash and Tracey thanks Misty for her help. Misty tells them that they owe it to Poliwag. Ash says that it was a team effort, and Tracey says that Misty and Poliwag make a great team. Ash thanks Misty for helping him, but Misty tells him to not get used to it. Ash and co. continues their way to the Orange League competition.
