Biography
Atsushi Wakabayashi is a Japanese veteran anime director, storyboarder and animator from Tochigi Prefecture, Japan.
He is most notoriously known for his unique animation style as well as his storyboard and direction work on the NARUTO series.
He first worked at Toei Animation and then Tatsunoko Production before joining Studio Pierrot where he was considered the studio's backbone in the 90s.
Nowadays, his main focus in anime is more on storyboarding, as he feels that the changes in the anime industry do not allow him to animate as freely as he used to.
He has also been referred to as 若林あつし (same reading) and 一白早馬 (Hayauma Ippaku) (pen name) as well as outside of credits as カバさん (Kaba-san).
For his guest appearance in Pocket Monsters Sun & Moon episode 119, it is also said that Wakabayashi had to limit himself as to not put strain on the production.
