To participate in the Data Broadcast boardgame, player must press the d-button on their remote control while the episode is airing. The first time they play, they must register an account by entering their name and choose their starter Pokémon. Players can choose between Keromatsu, Fokko, Harimaron and Pikachu. Then, by starting the system as the episode is running, players start filling a gauge. Instead of going to the battle once you've filled it like in the previous Data Broadcasts, players get to throw a die instead. The player's Pokémon will then move that number of spaces ahead. If the Pokémon makes it way to space 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 or 18, you will obtain a Battle Voucher. Once the episode ends at 7:25 pm, if you managed to get this voucher, the battle will start, and you catch the Pokémon of the day by answering a question about which type of attack it is weak against.
If a player makes it all the way to space 19 before the episode ends, they get to participate in a lottery for some real-life prizes. Players must choose between 4 treasure chests. Once they've opend one, they will receive a password. By entering this password on the official Pokémon anime website, they get a single entry in an on-going lottery. Players can collect multiple passwords over multiple weeks for further entries in the lottery to increase their chances of winning.
Every 3 months, players can get a password for a custom-made computer wallpaper calendar featuring their starter Pokémon and the Pokémon they've managed to catch during those 3 months. In addition, the prizes from the lottery will be given out to winners selected from the lottery entries received during that period. The first such period lasted from October 17th to December 26th, and the lottery drew 20 winners who each received a set of 10 Moncolle figures: Harimaron, Fokko, Keromatsu, Horubee, Dedenne, Erikiteru, Yayakoma, Maaiika, Xernas and Yveltal.
