Summary
Ash and co. are still on their way to Mauville City. They stare at a poster on a bulletin board. The poster is advertising a Pokémon Trick House contest. The winner will receive a one year supply of Pokeblock. Brock thinks that is a good prize. Ash doesn't know what a trick house is. Team Rocket sees the same poster ad. They too want to enter and win the conetst, but James doesn't know what a trick house is either. Jigglypuff sees the poster too and smiles.

Ash and co. approaches the trick house. A large group of people are already crowding around. Ash wonders if they will have to build trick houses, but Max doesn't think so. Suddenly, a Whismur appears. Ash looks up Whismur in his Pokédex. A girl runs up to Whismur and tells it to not run off anymore. The girl's name is Elana. Ash asks Elana if she knows anything about the trick house contest. Elana tells them that the king of tricks will soon come out and explain everything.

A man appears on stage. He is known as the king of tricks. He explains how the trick house works. What you have to do is pass through the mazes and whoever reaches the end first is the winner. Then the king of tricks shows them the prize that they are competing for: the one year's supply of Pokeblock. There are several doors you can enter. Brock and Max enter one door, while Ash, May, and Elana enter another door.

Elana tells May that she is entering the contest to improve her Whismur's contest performance. They walk up to a maze. It is a very tricky maze to get by. Even Brock and Max are having trouble. Ash tries his best, but he always ends up at a dead end. The king of tricks walks out and does some crazy stuff. He warns Ash, May, and Elana about the sponge room. They don't find the king of tricks funny, so he walks away. While Ash, May, and Elana are passing by, James and Meowth see them. They notice that Elana has a Whismur. Meowth thinks they should give Whismur to the boss.

Ash and co. continue to look for the exit to the maze. Elana has come to a fork in the path. She tells Whismur to go one way. While Whismur is walking, James and Meowth sneak up behind it and grab it. Elana can't find Whismur anywhere. She tells Ash and May, and they all split up to find Whismur. Meanwhile, Jessie sees Pikachu. She decides to capture it. She holds out a bag and sneaks up from behind Pikachu. Pikachu sees Jessie, so Jessie quickly runs backwards. Then Ash, May, and Elana sees Jigglypuff. Jigglypuff sings its song, and they all fall asleep. When Jigglypuff is done singing, it sees that everyone has fallen asleep. Jigglypuff is mad by this, and it draws all over on Ash and co.'s faces.

May and Elana laugh at each other because of the drawings on their faces. Ash wipes his face clean. He tells the girls that Jigglypuff gets mad if you fall asleep while it is singing. Team Rocket regroups. Jessie says that they should now leave since they have Whismur. Ash and co. regroup too. Brock asks Elana if she has search everywhere. Elana says that she did, and she still hasn't found Whismur. Ash thinks that Whismur might've found the exit already, and they should go there too. Brock says that it is a possibility, but they aren't even close in finding the exit. Max suddenly gets a theory. He thinks that there must be a trap door somewhere because they have searched everywhere and haven't found the exit. He pushes on a wall, and a hidden door springs open leading to the outside.

Team Rocket also has made it outside. They pass right by Ash and co. Elana sees James holding her Whismur and thanks them for finding it and bringing it to her. Suddenly, Jigglypuff appears on top of the wall. It begins to sing, putting Ash and co. to sleep. Jigglypuff is mad that everyone fell asleep. However, Whismur is still awake. It enjoyed Jigglypuff's song. Jigglypuff likes Whismur.

When Ash and co. wake up, they find their faces full of markings. Whismur's face didn't get drawn on because it is immune to all sound effects.

The next obstacle that Ash and co. have to take is crossing a river on a log. The king of tricks explains that if you pick the wrong log, you end up falling into the river. Ash and co. carefully chooses a log to cross it to the other side. Team Rocket walks in the same room. They push the log that Ash and co. are on. Ash and co. fall into the river. Then Team Rocket gets ahead of Ash and co. Team Rocket also gets through the rope swinging obstacle. Ash and co. go in the room too. The king of tricks says that some of the ropes are dangerous. Ash and co. each choose a rope to take. When they are swinging, James uses a mechanical arm machine to throw Ash and co. off their ropes and into the water.

The next task Ash and co. have to do is climb up a rope and find the right box. The wrong box can lead to serious disaster. Ash chooses the red box. They all begin climbing the rope to the red box. When they reach the top, Team Rocket appears, and they cut the rope. Then Team Rocket approaches the pitfall obstacle. They have to get to the other side while avoiding the hidden pitfalls. This is Team Rocket's specialty, but they fall in a hole from the beginning. Then Ash and co. approach the same obstacle too. The king of tricks explains what they have to do. Ash thinks it's easy, but he also falls into a hole.

When Ash and co. finish that obstacle, they come to an empty room. Two people are at the end of the room holding a jump rope. They tell Ash and co. that they have to jump through the rope ten times flawlessly, and they will win. Ash and co. jumps ten times. When they are done, the two people tie Ash and co. up in a rope, and they steal Pikachu and Whismur. The two people happenes to be Team Rocket, and they say their motto. Ash sends out Corphish. Corphish cuts through the ropes, freeing Ash and co. Then Jessie sends out Seviper, and James sends out Cacnea. Cacnea uses Pin Missile, but Corphish uses Harden to block the attack. Then Corphish hits Cacnea with Crabhammer. Cacnea knocks into Meowth causing Meowth to drop the bag containing the Pokémon. Pikachu and Whismur are free. Elana makes sure Whismur and Pikachu are okay. Then Whismur prepares for battle. Seviper uses Wrap on Whismur. Whismur attacks with Screech. Everyone in the room is affected. Then Whismur uses Supersonic to free itself. Then Whismur uses Hyper Voice on Team Rocket's Pokémon. Finally, Corphish uses Crabhammer to blast Team Rocket off.

The winner of the Pokémon Trick House contest is Ivan, a boy from Mauville City. Ivan claims his prize. May feels bad. If Elana wasn't with them, she could've had a much better chance at winning to contest. Elana doesn't mind. Her and Whismur had a lot of fun. Brock and Max tell Ash that Mauville City is their next stop since it is really close by. Ash can't wait to get his third gym badge. May points to the stage. Jigglypuff has walked on it and starts to sing. Everyone including Whismur falls asleep. Jigglypuff draws on everyone and walks away.

There they meet Akina and her "Whisper Pokémon" Gonyonyo and join her to participate in the Trick House Competition that's about to be held there. This is a competition centered around being able to make it through the various tricks set up by the Trick King, with the winner receiving an entire year's supply of Polocks!!
