Summary
Ash and his friends are still en route to Ecruteak City and are now quite hot as they walk through a jungle. They approach a banana tree and notice a couple of Aipom and a Mankey hanging from it. Ash gets out his dex to find out more information about the Aipom. Ash isn't interested in the getting the Pokemon this time but instead is hungry and wants to get some of the banana's.

Ash and Pikachu run towards the tree but they quickly slip on a banana peel and fall into a hot spring lagoon. Ash, Pikachu and Brock aren't too quick to get out of the water though and Misty approaches and asks them if they are going to say in the water all day. Ash tells her they are and suggests that she join them.

Brock states that the whole area is kept warm by and underground heat source as he puts out his wet clothes to dry. Ash suggests to his friends that they stay there all day and relax. Ash, Misty and Brock send out all their on hand Pokemon to come out and enjoy the hot spring as well. Ash has a large Master Ball balloon that he and all the Pokemon started bouncing around. They started hitting it too hard until it finally was sent out into the distance.

Chikorita gets mad at Totodile for hitting the ball so hard and they begin to fight. Ash thinks his Pokemon are getting along fine until Misty says she thinks they are fighting. Ash suggests to his Pokemon that they go find the ball so they can play some more.

Chikorita find the ball and tries to get it away from an Aipom that is standing on it but then a bunch of Aipom appear and begin throwing sand at it. Cyndaquil lights up the fire on its back and the Aipom run away with the ball though.

Jessie, James and Meowth have been walking through the jungle for hours and she wonders how much longer it would be till they got to the hidden hot spring. James tells her that according to the guide book, it should be just ahead. Jessie then imagines all the different ways she would enjoy the hot springs as Jessie and James begin eating some of the fruit they have collected. Meowth wasn't too enthusiastic about the hot springs because he didn't want to get his fur wet.

Suddenly a ground of Aipom appear and trample over Jessie, James and Meowth as Ash's Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile follow them close behind. Team Rocket recognizes the Pokemon as Ash's Pokemon. In a Sherlock Holmes fantasy, James deduces that because they saw Ash's Pokemon chasing a beach ball, a beach must be close by as well. Meowth says there isn't any ocean nearby but Sherlock James says it must be the hot spring that is close.

Jessie suggests they follow the Pokemon. The Aipom with the Master Ball beach ball enters a dark cave as Team Rocket notices a Snorlax. The Snorlax grabs James and eats all the fruit he had in the basket on his back. Team Rocket goes in the cave but Snorlax was tired and falls asleep in front of the entrance of the cave, blocking it.

Jessie and James end up splitting away from Meowth and Meowth ends up finding Totodile. Meowth thinks he's been abandoned but still decides he can catch Totodile. Snorlax keeps hitting the cave as it sleeps causing rocks to fall inside the cave. Totodile quickly saves Meowth from being crushed by a falling rock. Meowth was thankful for being saved even though he was trying to capture it.

Chikorita and Cyndaquil eventually find Totodile and Meowth. Meowth wants to know if they saw Jessie or James but they say they haven't. They try to cheer up Meowth. Jessie and James though manage to break out of the cave and find the larger hot springs. James tries to jump into the water but the Aipom throw stuff at Team Rocket.

Back in the cave, Chikorita can tell there is an exit as its leaf can feel the wind. Ash then realizes that his Pokemon have been taking a bit too long to get back and decides its time he should go look for them. Meowth and Ash's Pokemon find Snorlax and Cyndaquil's Flamethrower manages to wake it up and move it from the entrance of the cave. As they leave the cave, Meowth captures all three Pokemon in a net but Snorlax is mad at Meowth for hurting it. Snorlax cause an earthquake and the hot spring water goes all over the place.

Brock notices the water coming and then Ash notices his Pokemon near a Snorlax. He quickly goes after his Pokemon as they manage to rescue themselves long enough for Ash to come rescue them. Ash suggests they go back to the beach and just as they do the beach ball washes up on shore and Pikachu picks it up. They all begin playing with the ball again.

Script Error

The Japanese narrator specifically states that Satoshi and his friends are in a jungle The English dub narrator does not state that they are in a jungle.

English Dub Narrator: Our heroes are still on their way to Ecruteak City. They're not there yet, but they are hot on the trail.
Japanese Narrator Translation: Satoshi and his friends currently find themselves walking through a jungle.
00:23

Script Error

Ash in the English dub is able to identify Aipom but Satoshi in the Japanese original needs his Zukan to identify them.

Ash: Those are Aipom.
Satoshi: What are they?
03:15

Script Error

The English dub added a baseball reference to Ash's dialog and he is specifically addressing Totodile.

Ash: Well Totodile, in most stadiums that'd be a home run.
Satoshi: It sure flew far away.

05:18

Script Error

Jessie in the English dub finally identifies the location as a jungle that the narrator should have indicated at the beginning of the episode. In doing so, Jessie speech replaces Musashi's original complaining about reaching the hot spring.

Jessie: We've been walking through this jungle for hours James. How much further is this place?
Musashi: Are we at the hot spring yet? Hey, are we there yet? Are we there yet?
05:40

Paint Edit

Musashi is quite specific in the Japanese original when she states in English that she was going to have a full course dinner (フルコースのディナー) at the inn.

Jessie: Then it's off to a simply scrumptious candlelight banquet.
Musashi: Then finally, a full course dinner at the inn!
06:05

Script Error

Nyarth states in the Japanese original that he doesn't really care about hot springs while Meowth in the English version states that it leaves him cold. Jessie then tells him to try the spring while Musashi tells him that they feel amazing.

Literally Kojiro's pun during this scene is "Nyarth has a cat's tounge", an idiom meaning an aversion to hot thing. James' line in the English dub has a similar intended meaning but the original cat pun from the Japanese version was removed.

Character English Translation Japanese
Meowth Those hot springs leave me kinda cold. I see no reason to care.
Jessie I know you don't like to get wet but at least give the hot springs a try. Nyarth, you just don't understand how amazing hot springs feel.
James Maybe you'd warm up to them. Nyarth takes to heat like a cat to water, though.

06:46

Script Error

Jessie calls the running Aipom a bunch of Jaywalkers in the English dub when she was sitting in the middle of the dirt road eating fruit. Musashi just wants to know what trampled over them.

Jessie: Jaywalkers.
Musashi: What in the world was that?
07:34

Script Error

Jessie and Musashi contradict themselves as Jessie says they have the brat and his Pokémon right where they want them. Musashi doesn't even care about Satoshi or Pikachu that day as she just wants to spend time in the hot springs.

Jessie: Brilliant deduction. We've chased that little brat and his Pokémon for years and now we've got them just where we want them.
Musashi: That's right! What's important is the hot spring! Today I couldn't care less about the brat boy and his Pikachu!
08:08

Script Error

Jessie in the English dub knows where the Pokémon went but in the Japanese original Musashi asks her Sonansu if the Pokémon went into the cave.

Jessie: The Pokémon went in there. It must be a shortcut to the hot spring.
Musashi: Sonansu! Those guys went in there, right?
08:12

Script Error

Moments later, a line of dialog is cut from the English dub for James. He just yelps instead.

Kojiro: What's that?
08:20

Script Error

Kojiro specifically tells Kabigon not to eat him in the Japanese original.

James: Wait! Stop! Put me down! Oh! Jessie, Meowth, help me its got me! Save me!
Kojiro: Let go! Don't eat me!
08:33

Script Error

"Gaman" is the original name for the move Bide, which Sonansu can't learn, though it's also the name of its species. The animation does look like the move.

Meowth: That's Bide attack.
Nyarth: That's Bide.
09:29

Script Error

The English dub removes a couple lines of dialog that featured a pun on the hot springs as the Rocket Gang runs deeper into the cave.

Character Translation Japanese
Jessie To the hot spring!
Rockets Sprint, sprint, sprint, sprint, sprint!
Meowth Spring, spring!

11:03

Script Error

The English dub cut more lines as Jessie and James start running back.

Character Translation Japanese
Jessie Let's turn back!
James Right! おう!

11:38

Script Error

Meowth refers to a cats nine lives in the English dub and infers that he's actually lost some of them already.

Meowth: I guess I'm going to spend the rest of my nine lives here.
Nyarth: Maybe we'll never get out...
13:42

Script Error

The English dub replaces Jessie's line with a spin on the English idiom: "Last one in is a rotten egg!". Musashi in the Japanese original actually has a bit of French in her dialog.

Jessie: The last one in is a rotten Exeggcute!
Musashi: Whohoo! I can finally get into the hot spring! Bravo!
15:30

Scene Cut

As Nyarth runs towards Kabigon, he states that he's glad that he got out of the cave in. The line was removed in the English dub.

Nyarth: Hooray! We made it through!
17:30

Script Error

In the Japanese original, Musashi and Kojiro start to do their motto. In the English dub they don't even start and just have normal dialog. Musashi also breaks the 4th wall when she states the writers could have at least let them do their motto.

James in the English dub makes a pun on 'spring' by referring to how the banks of rivers generally flood in the spring season when snow melts or due to heavy rains.

Character English Translation Japanese
Jessie What's going on here? This isn't a hot spring, its a tidalwave! If you ask me about whatever, my answer will be the world's compassion!
James Maybe its not a tidalwave. Maybe its a spring flooding! Skip the rest! The hot spring is overflowing!
Jessie I don't know about you but I wasn't prepared for trouble! The least they could've done was to let us say our catchphrase!

17:45

Script Error

Nyarth states in the Japanese original that he thinks he's safe in the Japanese original only to be swept away by the water seconds later. Meowth wished for Jessie and James to be there.

Meowth: I wish Jessie and James was here!
Nyarth: I think I'm safe now!
18:04

Script Error

Brock in the English dub calls for Totodile whereas in the Japanese original its Kasumi who calls for Waninoko.

Initially I didn't think there would be that many edits in this episode but when I started comparing the lines, a lot more edits became evident. It's definitely a deceiving episode for edits which I guess shows that 4Kids, though editing it from the original, managed to make the episode flow well enough so that it wasn't noticeable to the viewers.

A quite meh episode, in my opinion. It's one of the umpteenth filler episodes from the older series... and frankly, I didn't find there was anything special about that one, unfortunately. Lots of things simply didn't make any sense at all (like the hotspring looding the whole area).
