Summary
Ash and co. decide to take a break from their journey. Ash, Misty, and Brock all send out their Pokémon for the break. Ash and co. are relaxing when they hear something. A net is sprung and lands on the Pokémon. Then Team Rocket comes out in their balloon, and they say their motto. They begin to lift off with all of Ash and co.'s Pokémon. Suddenly, Team Rocket is shot down. Ash and co. look behind them, and they see a pack of wild Ursaring. The Ursaring are angry, and they use their Hyper Beam attacks. Ash and co. return all of their Pokémon, and they run away. The Ursaring chase after them.

Ash and co. finally have avoided the Ursaring. Ash, Brock, and Pikachu are alright. Ash asks how Misty is doing, but he ends up seeing Jessie instead. In another part of the forest, James and Meowth have also avoided the Ursaring. James looks behind him and sees Misty instead of Jessie. Meanwhile, Jessie wants to battle Ash and Brock. She sends out Arbok. Before Arbok can attack, two wild Ursaring pop out, and they use their Hyper Beam attacks. Ash, Brock, and Jessie run away from them. James and Meowth have Misty cornered. Before they can attack, two more Ursaring pop out, scaring them away.

Ash and Brock realize that they will have to work together in order to get out of the forest. Jessie calls a temporary truce and decides to work together. Ash looks up Ursaring in his Pokédex. On the other side of the forest, Misty tells James and Meowth that they will have to work together in order to survive. James agrees. Meanwhile, Ash and Brock call out for Misty. Jessie notices that they really care for her. She wonders if James and Meowth feel the same way. James and Meowth aren't worried about Jessie at all. They know that Jessie can survive on her own just fine. Soon, Misty, James, and Meowth come to a road with three paths. They each point to a different path in the road. They decide to play a game to see who wins. Meowth ends up winning, and they take the path that goes straight.

It's getting dark outside. Brock decides to set up camp for the night. He begins to prepare a stew for dinner. Jessie is eyeing the food that Brock is cooking. Brock tastes the stew and finds out that it is ready. Jessie also tastes and sees that it's very good. She asks them if they always eat good food like this. Ash tells her that Brock makes great meals all the time. Brock assumes that Jessie eats well, too. Jessie knows that her, James, and Meowth don't eat well at all, but she can't tell that to Ash and Brock. So she lies by telling them that she eats well, too.

Because of Meowth, Misty, James, and Meowth are now lost. They decide to take a break. James pulls out a cracker, breaks it in half, and gives one half to Meowth. They wish that they had more food. Misty, on the other hand, has a big sandwich in front of her. James and Meowth stare at the sandwich. Misty tells them that Brock makes sandwiches all the time. Before she can eat it, she sees James and Meowth drooling in front of her. She decides to give James and Meowth some of her sandwich. James and Meowth bite into the sandwich and notice that it's the best thing they ever had.

Now Misty, James, and Meowth need to find a place to sleep. Meowth tells them that they shouldn't sleep out in the open, otherwise they may get attacked by wild Ursaring. He sees a cave up ahead and leads Misty and James in it. In the cave is a pack of wild Ursaring. Misty, James, and Meowth run out of the cave, and the wild Ursaring chases after them.

Ash, Brock, and Jessie have found a place to sleep. A fire has been built, and Ash and Brock gather up in their sleeping bags. Ash tells Pikachu that they will look for Misty in the morning. Jessie notices that Ash and Brock are very happy with their life. She is used to sleeping on playgrounds and other poor places. Brock gives Jessie a blanket. Jessie gratefully takes it and lies down. She wonders what she is doing with her life and wonders what happened to all her dreams.

Misty, James, and Meowth play the game again to see who gets to be the leader. Meowth wins again. He decides to climb down a cliff so that they Ursaring can't chase them. James gets out a rope, and he goes down first. They notice that they didn't reach the bottom. Misty is angry because they can't go back to the top, and they don't know how far the bottom is. Meowth pulls on the rope, and it falls. Angrily, Misty takes a stick and draws a line to separate sides. James and Meowth notice that Misty has more room than they do. Misty tells them that they don't need as much room as her because their brains are smaller. Then Misty pulls out a blanket and goes to sleep. Meowth plans on stealing Misty's Pokémon. James reminds Meowth that they have no way of escaping.

Meanwhile, Jessie plans to steal Pikachu. Even though she made a truce with Ash and Brock, she doesn't want an opportunity like this one to go to waste. She quietly picks up Pikachu and runs outside the cave. However, she runs right into a wild Ursaring. Jessie screams and runs back into the cave.

When morning rises, Ash, Brock, and Jessie continue to search for Misty, James, and Meowth. Jessie is sad that she didn't get Pikachu or any sleep. Meanwhile, Misty, James, and Meowth find out that they are only a few feet away from the bottom. Misty, James, and Meowth play their game again to decide who gets to be the leader. Meowth wins again, but James tells Meowth that he should give someone else a turn.

Ash and co. meet up with another Ursaring. Ash thinks that they can take this Ursaring down because there is only one. Ash sends out Cyndaquil, and Brock sends out Onix. Onix starts off with a Tackle attack. Then Cyndaquil uses its Flamethrower attack. Jessie notices that Ash and Brock have well-trained Pokémon, and it's obvious why she gets beaten everytime by them. The Ursaring roars, and a whole pack of Ursaring appear. Ash and Brock return their Pokémon, and they begin to run again.

Misty, James, and Meowth also confront an Ursaring. Then a whole pack appears, and Misty, James, and Meowth run away. Ash, Brock, and Jessie meet up with Misty, James, and Meowth. In front of them is an old rope bridge. They have no choice but to cross it. While they cross the bridge, the Ursaring cuts the ropes, and Ash and co. fall to the other side of the forest. Everyone is holding onto each other for their life. Ash sends out Bulbasaur and Chikorita. James sends out Victreebel, Brock sends out Onix, and Jessie sends out Arbok. All the Pokémon begin to help pull Ash and co. up to safety. Unfortunately, the ropes to the bridge break, and Ash and co. begin to fall. All the Pokémon lunge forward to rescue their trainers. No one falls into the river, and everyone is safe.

Jessie realizes that Team Rocket is back together, and the Ursaring are gone, so the truce is over. Each team splits up. Arbok begins to attack, but Onix counterattacks with Tackle. Jessie is angry that she is getting beaten again. Togepi begins moving its arms back and forth. Then Victreebel and Chikorita use their Razor Leaf attacks against each other. Meowth then uses its Fury Swipes attack. Pikachu gives Meowth a big shocking with its Thundershock attack. Togepi continues to move its arms back and forth until it uses Metronome. A big explosion occurs, and Team Rocket blasts off again.

Ash and Bock welcomes Misty back into the group. They wonder why the Ursaring were attacking them. Ash finds a sign that says that it is currently the Ursaring mating season. Now Ash and co. continue their way to Goldenrod City. Meanwhile, Team Rocket has landed back in the forest. Jessie has realized that she is unhappy with her life because of James and Meowth. James and Meowth feel the same way towards Jessie. Suddenly, a pack of Ursaring surrounds Team Rocket, and they scream.
