Chikashi Kubota was born August 29, 1978 in Tokyo, Japan. His blood type is B. After graduating from high school, Kubota went through training at Toei Animation Research Center before joining with XEBEC.
Later. he was invited by すしお (Sushio) / 石崎寿夫 (Toshio Ishizaki) to join GAINAX where he worked as animation director on anime series like Top o Nerae 2! and Gurren Lagann.
He also worked as animation director on several films by 細田守 (Mamoru Hosoda), including Toki o Kakeru Shoujo.
