Celebrate the beginning of a Halloween adventure with Greavard during Pokémon GO Halloween 2023 Part I!

Trainers,
Shed some light on what treats await you in this Halloween adventure. And don’t worry, it’s no trick—Greavard will make its Pokémon GO debut!

The sights and sounds of Pokémon GO’s Halloween celebration will return, including a remix of the Lavender Town music, festive decor, and themed Timed Research. And be on the lookout—plenty of Ghost-type Pokémon will be haunting the wild!

Pokémon GO Halloween 2023 Part I

Pokémon debuts

Greavard and its Evolution, the Ghost Dog Pokémon Houndstone, will make their Pokémon GO debuts!


*You can use 50 Greavard Candy to evolve Greavard into Houndstone.

Wild encounters

The following Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild.


Ekans , Zubat , Alolan Meowth , Gastly , Haunter, Spinarak , Misdreavus , Poochyena , Shuppet , Drifloon , Litwick , Phantump**
Some Trainers might even encounter the following: Sandygast

**For the first time in Pokémon GO, you’ll be able to encounter Shiny Phantump—if you’re lucky!

Paid Timed Research

For US$5.00 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency), you’ll be able to access event-exclusive Timed Research.

Complete the research tasks to earn encounters with Ghost-type Pokémon like Phantump and Dark-type Pokémon like Alolan Meowth, as well as a Halloween-themed avatar pose!

Please note that Timed Research expires. The tasks associated with this Timed Research must be completed and their rewards must be claimed before Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at 8:00 p.m. local time.

Trainers will be able to purchase and gift tickets to any of their Pokémon GO friends that they have achieved a Friendship level of Great Friends or higher with. Please note that purchases—including those made for other Trainers—are non-refundable (subject to applicable law and the exceptions set forth in the Terms of Service). Tickets cannot be purchased with PokéCoins.

Timed Research

Event-exclusive Timed Research will be available from October 19 at 10:00 a.m. to October 31, 2023, at 8:00 p.m. local time.

Timed Research focused on catching Ghost-type Pokémon will be available throughout the event! Complete the research tasks to receive Stardust, encounters with Greavard, and more!

Timed Research

Additional event-exclusive Timed Research will be available from October 19 at 10:00 a.m. to October 31 at 8:00 p.m. local time.

Timed Research focused on Spiritomb and its 108 spirits will be available throughout the event! Complete the research tasks to receive encounters with Ghost-type Pokémon and Spiritomb!

Event Bonuses

: Additional Candy for successfully catching Pokémon with Nice Throws, Great Throws, and Excellent Throws.

You’ll be able to get event-themed stickers by spinning PokéStops, opening Gifts, and purchasing them from the in-game shop.

An avatar item and Partner Research with Prime Gaming

As part of this year’s collaboration with Amazon Prime Gaming, we’re offering Trainers an extra-spooky Halloween opportunity.

Amazon Prime members can claim Timed Research that grants exciting rewards, including early access to the Greavard Wig avatar item! This Timed Research is available to claim from October 16 at 10:00 a.m. PDT to November 17, 2023 at 9:59 a.m. PST. To receive all the rewards, Trainers must complete the research tasks before December 25, 2023, at 8:00 p.m. PST.

Three Halloween Bundles will be available during this event in the in-game shop!

For 495 PokéCoins, you will get three Remote Raid Passes, one Star Piece, and one Lucky Egg.
For 725 PokéCoins, you will get 10 Premium Raid Passes, two Star Pieces, and two Lucky Eggs.
For 1550 PokéCoins, you will get 10 Super Incubators, five Incubators, and two Incense.
