Chandelure Is Now Available in Pokémon UNITE

Light up and disrupt the opposition with this fiery Ranged Attacker. Ignite your next fight on Aeos Island with Chandelure in Pokémon UNITE! Chandelure begins each match as the little Litwick before evolving into Lampent and finally the intense Chandelure. This Ranged Attacker from the Unova region is known as the Luring Pokémon, but it will have the opposition fleeing from its powerful, scorching attacks. You can obtain Chandelure for 12,000 Aeos coins or 575 Aeos gems at the Unite Battle Committee shop. Chandelure will only be obtainable with Aeos gems for the first seven days of its release.

Read on to learn more about everything this Pokémon has to offer and to pick up a few tips before making your claim to flame as Chandelure on Aeos Island.

Chandelure Basics

Ability: Infiltrator - When the Pokémon deals damage to opposing Pokémon, its next attack partially ignores the opposing Pokémon’s Sp. Def. This effect can stack up to 8 times maximum.

Basic Attacks - The Pokémon’s basic attacks become a boosted attack whenever a set amount of time passes, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon it hits, decreasing their movement speed, and leaving them burned.

Lv. 1 & 3 Moves

Ember - Litwick shoots out a small flame, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon it hits, decreasing their movement speed, and leaving them burned. For a short time after Ember is used, it can be used again.

Night Shade - Night Shade makes opposing Pokémon in the area of effect see a frightening mirage, dealing damage to them and marking them. When Litwick deals damage again to marked opposing Pokémon, those Pokémon are left unable to act for a short time.

Lv. 5 Moves

Flamethrower - Lampent shoots an intense blast of fire in the designated direction, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon it hits and leaving them burned. The end of the blast explodes, dealing increased damage. If the explosion hits an opposing Pokémon, Flamethrower’s cooldown is reduced. Flamethrower can be upgraded so that when the explosion at the end of the blast hits an opposing Pokémon, Lampent deals increased damage for a short time.

Overheat - Lampent throws consecutive flames in an arc into the designated area up to 3 times, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon they hit and leaving them burned. When a flame hits an opposing Pokémon, Lampent gains one heat energy. If Overheat is used again, Lampent shoots out an exploding flame, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon it hits based on the amount of Lampent’s heat energy and leaving them burned. After using the follow-up attack, Lampent cannot use basic attacks for a short time. Overheat can be upgraded to reduce its cooldown.

Lv. 7 Moves

Poltergeist - Chandelure creates a zone of mysterious power, as well as mirages of floating furniture—such as tables and chairs—inside it. Any opposing Pokémon that comes in contact with a mirage takes damage and has its movement speed decreased. Opposing Pokémon that step on the zone’s border will also have their movement speed decreased. Poltergeist can be upgraded to strengthen the movement speed decrease applied to opposing Pokémon.

Imprison - Chandelure creates a zone in front of itself. The first opposing Pokémon caught in it will become unable to move, and all opposing Pokémon in or that enter the zone become imprisoned and cannot use moves. Imprison can be upgraded so that all opposing Pokémon caught in the zone when it is created will become unable to move.

Chandelure’s Unite Move, Ignite Midnight

Chandelure seals the area around itself in darkness and obscures opposing Pokémon’s vision for a short time. If Ignite Midnight is used again, Chandelure continuously fires a beam of fire in a designated direction, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon it hits. The beam can be directed while fired, and its final blast deals increased damage.

Metagame Watch

Ranged Attackers excel at dealing damage to Melee characters that have trouble closing the distance between themselves and their targets. And with Poltergeist and Imprison—both of which create zones that hinder opposing Pokémon—Chandelure in particular can be a nightmare for Melee Attackers that don’t have additional movement options. Plus, with Flamethrower’s cooldown being reduced when the end of its blast hits an opposing Pokémon, Chandelure can combo with the hindrances its zones create to dish out more damage.

Strong Against: Machamp - Machamp has all the muscles in the world, but it famously struggles to close the distance against Ranged Attackers. Chandelure’s Poltergeist makes it extremely difficult for Machamp to get close if Submission is on cooldown. And even when Machamp can use Submission, Chandelure can often stay at a safe range in team fights and ignite the opposition with Flamethrower or Overheat.

Weak Against: Espeon - Chandelure and Espeon are both Ranged Attackers with high damage, but Espeon can more easily land a stun using Psyshock and Psybeam, giving it a key advantage in one-on-one battles. And thanks to its range, Espeon can also avoid Chandelure’s Poltergeist and Imprison zones. However, if Chandelure is able to catch Espeon with Imprison before Espeon has a chance to land a Psychock, then the Luring Pokémon will have the advantage.
