That always makes things a lot easier! Well 2 days later and the music for Movie 2 is assigned and samples for all the unreleased tracks have been created and assigned. I don't remember too much of this music actually making it into the TV anime but I guess we'll see as we go along!

At first, I struggled to find the music that played in the Episode 115, in the flashback between Satoshi and Laplace (when they had to be separated). At some point I thought it was unreleased or from the Movie 2, but I just KNEW it sounded familiar. I eventually found that it was a track from the Movie 1 that wasn't played in the series before - "Miracle Tears".



Thank you so much for putting up those samples! And yeah, I too don't remember much of the music from that movie playing during the series, but I mostly watched the dub, and couldn't hear many original BGMs because of it (when I first played a bunch of musics from Johto and Hoenn from the 2 last CDs, I couldn't recognize at least half of them, if not more). We'll see how much it's used in the original version. So far I haven't heard any music from Movie 2 or its short.

Here they are, the last 3 episodes of the Orange Islands arc! It's also the end of the 1st Generation in the anime, as the next episodes are already set in Johto. To be honest, the first 90 and so episodes of the Johto region are OVERALL my least favorite in the entire series. I don't deny that there are good episodes in the middle, but I just get bored at watching most of them. I'll still put the entire soundtrack in the episodes, of course. But just to get quickly to the good part of the region (around the time of the beginning of "Master Quest" dub season), I'll try to do 4 episodes a day.

Still no sign of Movie 2 music.

There they are, the first 4 episodes of Johto now have their BGM up. The episodes weren't actually that bad. The highlight for me was the 2nd (Double Trouble Header) - it was quite fun.

What's surprising is that no Johto music has played yet. They don't seem to premier until around the 5th-10th episodes of the region (I'm guiding myself by the time when I watched the dub of these episodes). That's weird, considering how all other generations' (excluding the 1st, since there was no other music for that generation) beginning episodes kind of overused their generations' BGM due to the heavy advertisement and emphasis on everything that concerned the new region and its games.

The Movie 2 and its short musics haven't been played yet too.

I'm surprised that was never released as its used quite often in the anime.

The last two tracks in movie 2 short I was a bit unsure of if they were unreleased or not. After awhile it gets hard to keep track of all the different music. It's hard to believe that these tracks still haven't been released on CD yet because I know they are used quite a bit in the anime tv series.

But then again, so is the Movie 1 Short music and the others... I don't know why they haven't released the music from the shorts, because it's really good. It just has a somewhat different tone and style from the one that's made for the series and movies.

Moving on, it seems as the TV series music premier actually has a strict schedule. The Episode 125 is the first Johto episode that aired after the release of Gold & Silver in Japan and was also the first to use 2nd Generation music, which explains everything. That episode definitely had OLM's typical "We have new music ready, so let's play it all/almost all over the place in the first episode we have a chance to play it!!11!" attitude. Thankfully, it only happens like once per region.

What's still strange is that the very next episode doesn't use any Johto music at all again. Another funny thing: the track http://www.pocketmonsters.net/cd/203#Track-3559 (A Trainer Appears (Boy Version)) made a return in that episode, 101 episodes after the last (and until here only) time it played. I definitely didn't expect it to play again in the series.

Added the BGM for PM125 21:20 as "Rocket Gang Argue"

The PM125 21:20 does sound similar to tracks in Movie 1 short but not exactly the same.

Looks like were getting into the Johto specific music now so that should be a bit of a change.

The series now uses regularly music from Kanto, Johto, 1st Short and Movie 1. The music from Movie 2 and its Short hasn't been played yet though.
