Character Bios written:
- Kijuro: Kijuro is a Pokémon Trainer specializing in martial arts who lives in a forest close to Asatsuki Town. He has been training together with his partner, Barrierd, for many years, and they have even traveled through many regions in order to improve their skills. He has since settled in that particular area, which he uses as his field to eagerly train against other Pokémon and achieve even higher goals.
Impressed by the way Satoshi's Buoysel saved Fukamaru, he challenged Satoshi to a battle. Kijuro's Barrierd proved to be stronger than Satoshi's Buoysel, and it managed to dodge its opponent's Aqua Jet and SonicBoom attacks by skillfully using its Psychic and Double Team moves. It then knocked Buoysel out with a powerful ThunderPunch. Satoshi and Buoysel, determined to make up for the loss by getting stronger, started training with the help of Kijuro so that Buoysel could learn a new move; Ice Punch. He told them that, in order to master the move, they had to work on improving their speed and concentration.
At first, the progress of Satoshi's Buoysel's training seemed to be really slow. However, after training overnight using unstable and light objects as targets for Buoysel's punches, like floating leaves, Buoysel managed to master the move completely. After the completion of Buoysel's training, Satoshi challenged Kijuro to a rematch, and Kijuro accepted. Satoshi's Buoysel proved to be more of a challenge for his opponent Barrierd, and after activating its ability, Swift Swim in the midst of the battle due to a sudden rain, Buoysel managed to increase its speed and finish Kijuro's Barrierd off with a powerful Ice Punch. Kijuro then acknowledged Satoshi's Buoysel's improvement and praised its skills, but also put emphasis on the fact that Buoysel still had a long way to go and had to keep on training.
Kijuro makes weird abbreviations while speaking, like SatoPika (short for Satoshi and Pikachu), SatoBuoy (short for Satoshi and Buoysel), HikaPocha (short for Hikari and Pocha) and TakeBree (short for Takeshi and Pokémon Breeder), as our heroes noticed when he introduced himself. Both he and his Barrierd really enjoyed Takeshi's meal, which he prepared after Kijuro's first battle with Satoshi.
- Kijuro's Barrierd: Kijuro's Barrierd is Kijuro's partner, who has trained with him for many years. They have even traveled together through many regions in order to improve their skills, but have lately settled in a forest near Asatsuki Town, which they use as a field to eagerly train against other Pokémon and achieve even higher goals.
Kijuro used his Barrierd against Satoshi's Buoysel both in their first and in their rematch battle. In the first battle, Kijuro's Barrierd proved to be stronger than Satoshi's Buoysel, and managed to dodge its opponent's Aqua Jet and SonicBoom attacks by skillfully using its Psychic and Double Team moves. It then knocked Buoysel out with a powerful ThunderPunch. In the second battle, however, Buoysel proved to be more of a challenge for his opponent Barrierd, as it had mastered a new move; Ice Punch. After activating its ability, Swift Swim in the midst of the battle due to a sudden rain, Buoysel managed to increase its speed and finish Kijuro's Barrierd off with a powerful Ice Punch.
Barrierd appears to share a really strong bond with his trainer, Kijuro. Both it and its trainer, Kijuro, also really enjoyed Takeshi's meal, which he prepared after Kijuro's first battle with Satoshi.
- Satoshi's Buoysel: When Satoshi and co. were traveling towards Asatsuki Town for Hikari's next Pokémon Contest, a mysterious Pokémon Trainer specializing in martial arts, named Kijuro, challenged Satoshi and his Buoysel to a battle after seeing how Buoysel saved Fukamaru who had fallen into a river. Kijuro's Barrierd proved to be a really strong opponent, though, as it managed to dodge Buoysel's Aqua Jet and SonicBoom attacks by skillfully using its Psychic and Double Team moves, eventually knocking Buoysel out with a powerful ThunderPunch. Satoshi and Buoysel, determined to make up for the loss by getting stronger, started training with the help of Kijuro so that Buoysel could learn a new move; Ice Punch. He told them that, in order to master the move, they had to work on improving their speed and concentration.
