Mamoru is the manager of a fishing boat shop in Olivine City on the Johto coast. He is a huge fan of the old Ginjiro movies that were made at the movie studio that used to be in town.

Mamoru took Liko and company over to Uzumaki Island which was the the filming location for the first film in the VS Samehader series of movies and showed them the rock that Ginjiro leaned on. He didn't want to accept that people get old and didn't realize that his hero was right in front of him and that Mighty G was Ginjiro despite Ludlow practically outright telling him some of his memories from the movies he filmed. He later realized after Might G showed up and rescued the Rising Volt Tacklers' Tatsugiri and his Wooper that he was narrow-minded and had refused to see the changes that had been happening over the years.

Just before leaving, he told the Rising Volt Tacklers that a previous passenger saw Entei in the archipelago just offshore.
