Niko is a student at the Orange Academy in the Paldea region. She is attending to learn about Terastallizing and take the Terastal course. While doing her gym tests, she got lost in a forest and she cut off some vines on a tree to fix the strap on her bag. This made Konoyozaru and the other monkey Pokémon mad as the vine was the only way across the river.

She looks very similar to Liko, so when Liko encountered all the monkey Pokémon in the forest, they thought Liko was Niko and they got mad at Liko for cutting the vine to their food.
