August 25th, 2022 - Today, The Pokémon Company International unveiled the latest expansion of the best-selling Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG), Sword & Shield—Silver Tempest, coming to participating retailers around the world starting on Nov. 11, 2022.

Sword & Shield—Silver Tempest will introduce more Radiant Pokémon—such as Radiant Jirachi and Radiant Alakazam—which are Shiny Pokémon, illustrated in etched artwork, that often have a powerful Ability or attack. The expansion will also highlight more Pokémon VSTAR, including Lugia VSTAR and Regidrago VSTAR, plus the first Pokémon VSTAR in the Pokémon TCG to not be fully evolved: Alolan Vulpix VSTAR.


Trainers can look forward to finding the following noteworthy cards from Sword & Shield—Silver Tempest in booster packs, Elite Trainer Boxes and special collections, which are now available for preorder at Pokémon Center in the US, Canada and UK. In addition, they can preorder the exclusive Sword & Shield—Silver Tempest Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box, which includes two additional booster packs, a second set of card sleeves and a unique metallic coin.

The latest Pokémon Trading Card Game expansion, Sword & Shield—Silver Tempest, arrives on November 11, 2022, but you can visit your local game store to start playing with it early! Starting October 28, 2022, select retailers will begin selling the Sword & Shield—Silver Tempest Build & Battle Box, giving fans a chance to have a Prerelease battle and experience the latest expansion before its official release date.

The Prerelease format allows players to compete with a 40-card deck, with four Prize cards set aside at the start of play, as opposed to a 60-card deck with six Prize cards. This format is perfect, not only for introducing new players to the exciting world of the Pokémon TCG with quick, fun games. It also gives seasoned players a window into all that Sword & Shield—Silver Tempest has to offer. With a limited card pool and the variance of cards that can be acquired in a Prerelease Kit, Prerelease events are also a great opportunity to flex your creative deck-building skills.

Each Build & Battle Box includes four Sword & Shield—Silver Tempest booster packs and a 40-card ready-to-play deck featuring key cards from current and prior sets, as well as one of four unique foil promo cards to boost your Prerelease deck.
