The TOYOTA Engineering Society, together with The Pokémon Company, have launched the TOYOTA MIRAIDON Project, a project to convey the joy of imagination and the power of manufacturing through future imagining by children.


The TOYOTA Engineering Society MIRAIDON will be exhibited for three days from March 15th, 2024 to March 17th, 2024 at Tokyo Midtown Hibiya Atrium.

What is the TOYOTA MIRAIDON Project?

The Toyota Engineering Society is a voluntary organization within Toyota Motor Corporation, consisting of members appointed for a one-year term who are interested in the study of technology, and it has been running for more than 70 years. Every year, the group exhibits the results of the year's manufacturing project at Waku Waku World, a joint event between Toyota City and the Toyota Engineering Society.


This time, as we were considering the Toyota Engineering Society's 23rd year theme, "Future Mobility," while referring to 8,000 questionnaires collected from elementary school students in Toyota City, one picture caught our eye. A Miraidon was drawn very well. It is a Pokémon that many children wish to have in their future mobility: "A Pokémon that communicates like a friend and is fun to ride on its back." It is a Pokémon that clearly embodies the dreams of children.

The Pokémon Company motto is: "to enrich both the real world and the virtual world with the Pokémon characters" and the company strives to do interesting things and take on the challenge of new possibilities, and these pictures by the children are a help to inspire. Together with the Toyota Engineering Society, we started this project to convey the message that "adult's serious goals become children's dreams" and that "Dreams don't end as dreams, imagination creates the future."

In just six months starting in June 2023, manufacturing professionals gathered together with partner companies who supported this idea to created the TOYOTA Engineering Society MIRAIDON, a moving Miraidon that is almost life-sized.

What is TOYOTA Engineering Society MIRAIDON?

TOYOTA Engineering Society MIRAIDON is a future mobility idea in the shape of the Pokémon Miraidon that can be encountered in Pokémon Violet. It was created with the experience and technology of Toyota Engineering Society and the cooperation of The Pokémon Company. It is an almost life-sized reproduction of Miraidon in terms of weight and size with great attention to detail. It is also a product that showcases the power of manufacturing as it can be transformed into "drive mode" and "4-legged mode" and also has some movement.

What is Miraidon?

Miraidon is a Legendary Pokémon that appears in Pokémon Violet released in 2022. Miraidon, the main character's partner who battles and grows together, can change its appearance depending on the situation. It can walk on four legs or take the form of a two-wheeled motorcycle (Drive Mode), allowing the protagonist to ride to various locations.

• Numbered tickets will be distributed for test rides. The order will be based on the numbered tickets.

• The times of the test-ride and exhibition may change on the day.
• Visitors weighing 65 kg or more are not allowed to test ride.
