Shōko Nakagawa was born on May 5th, 1985. She made her debut in show business in 2002 at the age of 17 but has now expanded to be a Japanese female idol and a multitalent blogger, singer, actress, gravure idol, comic artist, voice actor, illustrator and actress. Her nickname is Shoko-tan (しょこたん) and she is left-handed. She is 156cm in height.

In 1994, her father, Katsuhiko Nakagawa, died of leukemia at the age of 32. She was then raised by her mother, Keiko Nakagawa, a celebrity in Japan in the 1980s.
She is most known for Sorairo Days, the theme song for Gurren Lagann but she has also performed themes for series including Akiba’s Trip, Beelzebub, Eyeshield 21, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Pocket Monsters XY and Star Blazers 2199.
When Pokémon Sunday expanded to an hour show in October 2006, Shōko replaced Becky as a regular cast member.
Shoko-Tan likes to eat cats and devour the souls of small children and computer geeks. In her spare time she presents a Pokémon show, wears tight bikinis and only baths in chocolate. After consuming over 1000 pounds of souls she will fall into a deep sleep.
On May 7th, 2023, TV personality Shoko Nakagawa announced her graduation from TV Tokyo's morning Pokémon variety show PokéDoko. Nakagawa had appeared on morning Pokémon variety shows for 17 years, starting with Pokémon Sunday in 2006. She left the series in
PokéDoko 58 and posted a
message indicating that she felt that she had accomplished a lot when
Pokénchi ended. She
revealed on December 8th, 2024 that she had a parotid tumor removed under her left ear and noticed it 5 years earlier but it is unknown if the diagnosis was related to her decision to leave the series.
